STEPS TO UNDERTAKE WHEN YOU START YOUR CONTRACT 


Following the Induction Session 
• Request for a computing account at building 55 
• Access Card request at building 55 
• Registration of personal vehicle at building 55 or online 
• Administrative formalities (Swiss/French card, etc.) 

Organization of your office and equipment by the CV Group Secretariat 
• Office 
• PC 
• Office key 

Steps you must undertake within your first days in the CV Group
The newcomer is required to meet the TSO (Territorial Safety Officer) of the building within the first 3 days following his arrival, to identify the building's emergency exits. 
The newcomer will have the TSO sign a document, which will be given to him by the secretariat, certifying that the instructions have been communicated. This document must then be returned to the secretariat. 

• Enroll in the Safety courses (depending on the guidelines given by your Section Leader).
• Familiarize yourself with all of CERN's safety rules and standards: HSE web page and more specifically the "Safety Policy" and "Safety Training" sections. 
• Registration for the electrical accreditation training (compulsory): level to be defined with your supervisor and information to be communicated to the secretary. 
• Requests for access to the facilities via EDH (depending on your Section Leader’s instructions). 
Please note that certain security courses are compulsory for the validation of certain access requests. 
Request for keys for the facilities (depending on your Section Leader’s instructions). 
• Application for an authorization to drive a CERN vehicle.
         Once you have the authorization, you should ask the Group Secretariat to create a token for you so that you can use the CERN cars. 
• Request for access to the group’s key cabinet: check the procedure and make the access requests corresponding to your status. 
• According to the instructions given by your supervisor, request for access to the 35/R archives key in the group’s key cabinet. 
• The dosimeter request is subject to a medical examination and participation in radiation protection courses: see the terms here 
• According to the instructions given by your supervisor, request access to the dosimeter pool of the group’s key cabinet. 
• Safety equipment (depending on your Section Leader’s instructions): helmet, frontal lamp and safety shoes must be ordered. Additional equipment is to be provided according to the recommendation of your Section Leader. You must first go to the store (73/R-002, Monday to Friday,1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) to try on the shoes, and then contact the CV secretariat to order a pair. 
• Purchase of tools if instructed by your Section Leader. 
• Find out about the CERN purchasing procedure:
           Before any purchase, check with your Section Leader first. 
• Read the CERN Code of Professional Ethics.
• Read the CERN Code of Conduct.
• Take note of the mandatory transfer form for the transport of material. 
• Office equipment: provided from the secretariat (35/1-007).
• Familiarize yourself with the “official travel” procedure:

• Learn about the sick leave procedure.
• Printer configuration: you can configure a printer located on your floor directly from your PC:  
         Procedure: Open a Word document -> File "Print" -> Click on the "Printer" drop-down list -> "Add printer" -> In location, enter "35" and select the number of the printer located on your floor (label on the printer).
