The Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) is the second-largest machine in CERN’s accelerator complex. Measuring nearly 7 kilometres in circumference, it takes particles from the Proton Synchrotron and accelerates them to provide beams for the Large Hadron Collider, the different North Area experiments and AWAKE experiment.

Role of EN/CV concerning the SPS complex : Ventilation of the surface and underground areas, cooling station + circuits EP ED, EM, EG. Compressed air + Sumps. Hydrants, potable water networks up to the main valves of the various buildings.

Role of EN/CV concerning the SPS complex :

  • Cooling tower
  • 6 Demineralised water cooling stations + distribution networks
  • 7 Chilled water cooling stations + distribution networks
  • 3 Mixed water cooling stations + distribution networks
  • Ventilation/ climatisation of the surface and underground areas
  • Sump pumps systems
