Access to CERN
All visitors to CERN must hold a CERN visitor card, which must be worn visibly while on site.
Visitor cards provide access to CERN’s fenced areas but do not automatically grant entry to controlled zones (which require additional authorization or an escort).
Visitor cards must be requested by a CERN guarantor (a CERN staff member or official contact) at least 48 hours before the visit.
To prepare your visitor card, please provide the following information for each visitor:
- Full name (as written in your identity document)
- Email address
- Nationality
- Date and place of birth
- Vehicle registration number (if you plan to enter by car)
Once the request is approved, you will receive an email with a reservation code.
Collecting Your Visitor Card
During working hours (approx. 07:00–18:00, Monday – Friday)
Visitor cards can be collected at the CERN Community Support Centre (Building 33) upon presentation of the reservation code and a valid identity document.
Outside working hours
Visitor cards can be printed at the self-service terminal located in the telephone booth in front of Building 55.
After printing the confirmation, please present it to the security guard at Gate B, who will issue the physical card.
